The Zingaro Oriented Reserve includes the stretch of coastline from the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo (north) to Castellammare del Golfo (south). It was the first reserve to be established by the Sicilian region after numerous activists, also supported by the WWF, protested against the approval of the project that was going to build a coastal road. Still today, this is the only part of the Sicilian coast that has not been violated by man-made infrastructures.
In the reserve there are several caves and seven ‘coves’, small inlets where the coastline embraces the crystal clear blue waters of the sea. Each cove has different characteristics from the others except for the presence of shiny marine pebbles.

Unfortunately, the reserve is temporarily closed to the public due to the severe fire that hit this area on 29 August 2020. The coves can only be reached by boat.
