The Stagnone lagoon is located on the northern outskirts of Marsala, extending from Punta Alga (south side) to San Teodoro (north side) and has two inlets towards the sea near the two extremes. There are several islands within the lagoon, including Isola Santa Maria, Isola di Mozia and Isola Grande. The latter is the one that creates the lagoon, enclosing it to its two outlets.

Scala dei Turchi
A popular destination for tourists who visit this area is undoubtedly The Stairs of the Turks. A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The park of Selinunte
The park of Selinunte is located in the municipality of Castelvetrano and is the largest archaeological site in Europe.
Segesta
This archaeological park features a Doric-style temple and a theatre that dates back to the Hellenistic period.
Favignana
It is characterised by jagged coastlines that sometimes give way to sandy coves.
Scopello
This quaint town is worth a visit as there are wonderful views with unique colours.
Zingaro Nature Reserve
In the reserve there are several caves and seven ‘coves’, small inlets where the coastline embraces the crystal clear blue waters of the sea
Salt pans
The salt pans of Nubia are among the few remaining in activity. You can reach them by car and they can be visited.
The island of Mozia
The island of Mozia (or San Pantaleo) is, among all the islands of the Lagoon of the Stagnone, the most interesting in terms of history and culture.
